Jim and I moved here in 1987 to continue and expand our hunter pony breeding business. Much has changed. The number of ponies and horses increased quickly. So too, did the number of buildings and fencing, even more than what appears here. Our biggest change came in 1991, when after 3 years of persuading Anne Carpenter to sell Halcyon Sir Lancelot to us, Lance finally arrived. Through careful breeding, Lance began to prove his worth as a top producing hunter pony stallion. He became the nucleus of the farm. Jim and I now had our small piece of heaven on earth. 

     In January of this year, 2007, a chapter closed when Lance was euthanized at Cornell University. As you can imagine, no one ever expects a healthy and vibrant Welsh pony to be gone in a flash. Driving into the farm, I can almost see Lance and I in our older years toddering around together, if he, only in spirit. Even though the brightest light of Hobbie Horse Farm is gone for now, I am comforted by the knowledge that there are twinkling gems out there to carry on a great legacy for many, many years to come.

TO YOU     HALCYON SIR LANCELOT     WE THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD SO SPECIAL. THOUGH YOU HAVE PASSED ON, IN YOUR PLACE, YOU HAVE OFFSPRING WHO WILL CARRY ON YOUR WONDERFUL BLOODLINES. MAY THEIR OWNERS APPRECIATE THE SAME INTELLIGENCE, BEAUTY AND TALENT WE SAW IN YOU EACH AND EVERY DAY. BLESS YOU.
